Conditioning Camp

Conditioning camp really sucks. I've had it all week and our coaches are just relentless. It ends tomorrow so hopefully there will be some rest until pre-season and tryouts.

Yesterday I didn't have time to get to the gym. Today I didn't have very much time.

Racquetball warm up 30 min

Drills and Skills Double Unders:

Clean and Jerk:

2 Dead bugs

Dead bug ab exercise. I will try to explain this as best I can. You do a series of different moves and hold them for 20 seconds each with no rest in-between. Laying on your back with arms and legs straight, and head lifted off the ground:

Bring both arms and legs straight up
Left arm and left leg up. Right arm and right leg extended. 
Reverse.
Left arm and right leg up. Right arm and left leg extended.
Reverse
Both arms and legs extended.
Both arms and legs up.

The exercise takes 2:20 to complete. 

Afterwards I threw the disc for a bit. Later in the day I had 2 hours of conditioning camp

Tonight I had conditioning camp. It is a pre season training camp with our soccer team that last 2 hours. It is mostly running, bear crawls, abs, jump rope, ploy, and ladders. There is very little actual work with the soccer ball and it leaves me utterly exhausted.

Some New Gear

I went to Dicks Sporting Goods today to grab some new gear. I got a new weight belt (the JCC where I work out doesn't have one). I also grabbed a couple of racquets for racquetball. Gautam and I are going to play a game or two of racquetball as a warm up every day. It will really help me get better at playing the game and its also a great warm up.

Peak Experience and New Training Partner

The Past 9 days I have been off the grid in Colorado on a school trip. Some highlights were: Rock Climbing, 3 day backpacking/rucking trip, white water rafting, and ropes courses. It was a great trip and I met a lot of new friends, but it was not a strenuous workout. Most of the people I went with were either out of shape or really young. That said, I fully enjoyed the trip and it was another great experience with camping. 

Today I did my first workout with my training partner Gautam. In the next few months, if I mention a partner WOD, I probably mean him. It was a simple drills and skills day to evaluate his abilities on different exercises.
